BIO

Stage director Sierra Hammond had the honor of working on the World Prermiere performance of Leslie Burrs' new opera I Can't Breathe at Marble City Opera in Knoxville and served as Co-Director of the production at Pacific Opera Project in Los Angeles. Upcoming engagements include a new production of Kamala Sankaram's The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace for Marble City Opera.

 

Sierra has been actively involved with Opera Huntsville since its inception and made her directorial debut with the company with Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief. Other production credits include Donizetti's Elixir of Love, Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle, The True Story of Cinderella (Warren), Gilbert and Sullivan in Rocket City, and Bremen Town Musicians. In Fall of 2022, Sierra directed the sold-out performance of Dreamgirls for Theatre Huntsville to rave reviews.

 

Sierra Hammond is a native of Dallas, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the illustrious HBCU Oakwood University; and she received her Master of Music degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. During her time in Knoxville, Sierra was actively involved in the UT Opera Theatre and Knoxville Opera companies on productions of La Boheme, The Crucible, Don Giovanni, The Consul, Boito's Mefistofele, and Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ullise in patria.

 

Sierra serves on the Voice Studies faculty at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University and resides in Huntsville, AL.
